The first weekend of April, 2003 brought a flurry of personal appearances.
Ricky appeared Saturday in Claremont at the POOCH Park's "Bunny Photo Day". He
spent the day trying to show other dogs how to sit with the Bunny and look AT
the camera, and smile. Everyone who met him wanted to hear his story, and
seemed to fall in love with him.
On Sunday he made his way to the Pet Expo in Orange County and laid in the isles, stopping foot traffic, so he could receive a hug, pet, treat, or just anything people wanted to let him have. He was even seen with his head resting on the wheel of a stroller so the child could pet his head. A few folks said they had read his story and just wanted to see him.
By Sunday night he was exhausted, slept all the way home in the car, and has since melted into relative obscurity having been adopted by his foster family.
He is happy being part of a multi-dog household, where he and his brother Gavin run outside each morning and bark up into a tree to alert the nesting birds that it is time to rise and shine. He prances through the house with a big smile on his face as if to say he owns the world.
