Brooklyn # 1785 MEDICAL HOLD NEW PHOTO
7 yr old F Rough Mahogany Sable
This girl made it to the shelter in a very round about way. Her owner was in the process of dumping her out of his car, when a good samaritan came along and took her from the owner and brought her to a local shelter. She is another wonderful collie girl that has been severely neglected. She has severe flea dermatitis, has almost no teeth due to the constant biting of her fur, she has fly stike on her ears. She will need at least 1 week of rehab before she can be spayed, and then some much needed TLC. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO INQUIRED ABOUT FOSTERING BROOKLYN. SPECIAL THANKS TO LYNNDI WHO IS TAKING ON THE JOB OF NURSING HER TO 100% SO SHE CAN BE SPAYED AND THEN GO ON TO HER FOREVER HOME.

Sabre #1801 - New Photo - Adopted!
10 yr old M Rough Sable
Sabre was relinquished by his owners to a shelter as they "couldn't afford him". He had been neglected for more than a year with a severely matted coat filled with feces stuck to his skin. He was flea infested, underweight, and deemed only available to rescue. This wonderful boy has the perfect Collie temperament, is affectionate, and very appreciative of having an inside home and getting love and attention. He is doing well on his housebreaking. Sabre looks and acts more like a 6 year old so we are not sure what his actual age is. He is scheduled for a professional grooming and a senior blood panel ASAP. More information as we learn more about this super sweet Collie boy.

Shannon 1774
3 yr old F Purebred sable and white rough
Shannon and her four sons (see listing for the Cee Gees)were dumped in Riverside County but were taken in by a Good Samaritan who called SCR. We just couldn't take mom, a purebred Collie, and send her four boys to the shelter. Our original plans for Shannon didn't work out, so she is now looking for her forever home. She loves to play, and is getting along well with her foster brother and sister.

4 yr old F Purebred Rough Sable
Tess was turned into the shelter for euthanasia by her owner due to having a seizure, her third in three years. She had her first seizure in rescue 4 months later, was evaluated by a Neurologist and diagnosed with mild Epilepsy. She is now taking the anticonvulsant Potassium Bromide, a liquid put on her food once a day at a cost of 42 cents. Tess also has hip and elbow dysplasia which causes her to walk slowly. She is on supplements to repair and preserve her joints. Tess will need an adult home or one with older children and ideally another gentle dog to play with. Tess is completely housebroken, knows basic commands, rides well in the car and is great with cats. She loves to play tug and fetch and is friendly and playful with other dogs. She is easy to live with, and will make a wonderful companion. watch Tess at play with her Collie friend. UPDATE: Tess has been seizure free for one year.

The Cee Gees--COMING SOON!
0 yr old M Collie/German Shepherd Mix
These four boys are just the cutest. Andy, Maury, Beary and Trooper,Jr. (Our apologies to Robin--Trooper is named in honor of our dear Collie Haven mascot whom we lost last year). What does the Cee stand for? Collie! What does the Gee stand for? German Shepherd Dog! Their mom is Shannon SCR 1774; you'll see from her photo that she's a beautiful purebred sable Collie. Our best guess is that Dad was a German Shepherd, although we can't say for sure since Shannon and her sons were found wandering by the roadside in Riverside County on a 105 degree afternoon. Who would dump a nursing mom and her four pups? We can't imagine who would be so heartless, but we've promised them all forever homes with loving families after they're old enough to finish their vaccines and undergo neuter surgery. Before you contact us, be sure to clink on the "Adoption" link on our home page and read "How to Adopt a Collie". All adoptions require an application AND a home visit as part of the approval process. Photo by Mark Allen, Editor of Southland Collie News.

Trilby 1525 Special Needs
8 yr old F Purebred Rough Tri
Trilby is a sweet and affectionate Collie , deserving of a good home that will cherish her. She does have some medical issues, and is on a low dose of thryoid, and is seeing a specialist for treatment for her nose, which has been diagnosed as Discoid Lupus. She is on two other medications, which will need to be continued for the rest of her life, along with seeing a specialist on occasion, for blood panels and evaluation. She will need to be kept indoors to further protect her nose from any more damage from the sun. Trilby requires an adopter who will be commited to her care. She will make a lovely companion for such an adopter. Note: This is Trilbys cut for Summer photo, and her meds will cost an adopter around $50 per month. She is responding very well to her medication. Her vet visits are down to only twice a year.
