Bailey 1662
3 yr old F Purebred Rough Sable
Bailey is a very active girl, who needs an attentive home or will become bored and destructive. She likes to be Queen Bee, but will do ok with most other dogs who are not alpha. She would be best placed with another playful dog to have fun and be kept busy. She loves Coyote on our site, and they will play for hours. This beautiful girl really likes to have fun.

Calypso 1725
1 yr old F Purebred Blue Merle Rough
Calypso is a very active, playful, youngster, that was turned into rescue due to not getting along with her families small breed dog. It would be best that she be placed as an only dog,and due to her high activity level with older children only. She requires an experienced adopter who can keep up with her high energy level. In return she will be a wonderful companion and bring a lot of fun and joy into your life.

Coyote 1763

Coyote is young and beautiful but acts just like her name. She will need someone dedicated to doing serious obedience training as we feel this dog was never properly socialized. NOTE: Coyote is coming along well, and learning how to get along with other dogs. . She is an active girl and play is her game!

Greyson 1566 Special Needs
9-10 yr old M Purebred Rough Blue Merle
This little guy (65-70 pounds) is a charmer. Arriving in bad shape, he's blossomed under his strict TLC regime. Even the coat we had to shave has come back beautifully. He is "just the cutest thing", according to everyone he meets, with a particularly sweet expression. This formerly head-shy, cringing fellow now trots up to you and stands blissfully, soaking up attention and petting. Though not demonstrative, he's docile, tolerant and friendly with most other dogs. Greyson would do well with a quiet family and no dominant dogs. His recent hip surgery has left him with a slight limp, which is still healing, but doing very well. He has had two seizures in the past two months and it is possible they were caused from the medication he was taking after the surgery. We have found in researching that one of the side effects can be seizures, so we have stopped the medication and hope to find that is the case. Greyson has been thru a lot in his time with rescue to give him a pain free life. The ultimate goal now is to find him a forever home, that will continue to love and care for him.

Gucci 1643 - Retired?
14 yr old F Rough Sable
Gucci is now 14 years old and came back into rescue due to the economy. She is doing great for a senior dog. Gucci just had a full blood panel and a dental (she doesn't have many teeth left anyway) and had a positive vet report. She is a little incontinent and takes DES and Imipramine which work well. She also is on one Rimadyl a day for her arthritis. Gucci goes for nice daily walks with the other Collies in her foster home. She loves visiting all the neighborhood horses. Being a senior girl she does have cataracts and not perfect hearing. Gucci can live out her lifetime in her foster home or can join you for what time she has left. SCR will pay all her bills. Call if you want to discuss fostering Gucci and making a difference in the life of a Collie and also helping SCR.

Jackie is a beautiful girl, and has learned to trust and bond with people. She would be best without children or cats, and does ok with most dogs. Like the Husky breed she is an escape artist and has to have a very secure enviornment to keep her safe

Laddie #1669 - Adopted!
8 mos. yr old M Purebred Rough Tri
Laddie was given to a woman about 4 months ago who didn't have the means to take care of him. He had major hair loss on his face and legs so was relinquished to SCR. He came in unneutered and without vaccines and went directly to be neutered and to the dermatology specialist for diagnosis. Laddie most likely has dermatomyocitis which attacks the skin and muscles and will be on medication his whole life to keep this ugly disease in check. Our SCR volunteer in Palmdale who picked him up to foster is also adopting him. He is so sweet and finally can be a housedog with 2 other collies for companions. He is another "expensive" dog but worth rescuing and given the chance for a good life. Thanks Margaret for loving Laddie.

Lassie is a male Collie, and a really nice boy. He gets along with everything and is very affectionate. Lassie has lived outdoors, but has quickly decided he loves being a pampered house pooch. He is in good health although he has a little arthritis, not enough to be on any medication. He is very sweet and will make someone a wonderful companion.

Macy 1827
2 yr old F Rough Collie/Golden Retriever mix
This Collie/Golden Retriever mixed girl came into rescue from Lancaster. She is a young and playful pup who will be receiving obedience training from a professional. Although she is young she is not destructive. She will need a secure property as she can be an escape artist. Macy adores people (she hasn't been around kids yet but would most likely be fine with older kids as she is rambunctious and could knock down the little ones) and loves to be brushed, petted, hugged and loved. She also appears to be housebroken too. She was in a kennel with another dog in the shelter and was fine but is now having problems relating to dogs (probably fear related) and is dog aggressive. She is a medium sized dog weighing about 50 pounds. She's a love bug. UPDATE: Macy started her training on December 21 and was graduated on January 10 from basic obedience. She is still not good with other dogs and will need to be an "only dog".

Prince 1704 RETIRED MEDICAL HOLD
11 yr old M Purebred Mahogany Sable
Prince is in need of a new foster home. He does have arthritis so carpet for him to help him get his feet under him is a must. Occasionally he will need a hand getting to his feet. He also takes a variety of meds along with joint supplements which SCR will provide. He just needs a warm safe home to live out his life. Call if you have a spot like this for Prince.

Sandy 1734 Retired
13 yr old F Purebred Rough Sable
Sandy is a sweet, beautiful girl who does very well for her age. She is a vocal girl, and needs a secure home with people home most of the time to dote and pamper her. She is a great companion dog, who loves walks and to be around people. She has great manners and will sit pretty for treats. She is more puppy than senior at heart!NOTE: Due to her advancing age we are retiring Sandy to the foster home who had cared for her these past two years.

10 yr old F Rough Sable
Sassy's owner passed away last week, and the vet who had taken care of her for the last 7 years was given "custody" of her to find a new home for her. She contacted us. Sassy gets around well for a senior citizen, walks well on a leash, is a total velcro dog and will bond with you instantly. She needs a family to call her own for her senior years. Adopt or Foster, it's up to you! THANK YOU SUE AND STAFF @ WAGS IN UPLAND FOR DOING SUCH A WONDERFUL JOB OF GROOMING SASSY, SHE IS PHOTO READY NOW!!

Shine 1571
4 yr old M Purebred Tri Smooth
Shine is a very energetic, sweet, loyal, smart and debarked Collie. He requires a very experienced and confident dog owner. Shine is shy and fearful of new situations, but warms up, and is trusting very quickly. He is being fostered with a professional dog trainer who will assist the new owner with reinforcing his training and behavior. Shine knows his basic commands, and loves to play ball and return it to you. Shine is very good in the house when supervised, although he needs a yard to play in and get exercise. Shine is not a dog who can be off leash in a dog park or at dog beach. He needs an adult only home.

Tess 1746 - Special Needs
3 yr old F Purebred Rough Sable
Tess was turned into the shelter for euthanasia by her owner due to having a seizure, her third in three years. She had her first seizure in rescue 4 months later on Aug 25. Tess was evaluated by a Neurologist and diagnosed with Epilepsy. She is now taking the anticonvulsant Potassium Bromide, a liquid put on her food once a day at a cost of 42 cents. It appears that her seizure frequency is low, perhaps only three times per year. Her adopter would need to deal with this as it happens. Tess also has hip and elbow dysplasia which causes her to walk slowly. She is on supplements to repair and preserve her joints. Tess will need an adult home or one with older children and ideally another gentle dog to play with. Tess is completely housebroken, knows basic commands, rides well in the car and is great with cats. She loves to play tug and fetch and is friendly and playful with other dogs. She is easy to live with, and will make a wonderful companion. UPDATE: Tess has not had a seizure since August 25. A recheck exam with the Orthopedic Specialist showed she has improved over the last 5 months and is able to take longer walks and romp with her doggie friends.

Trilby 1525 Medical Hold . Not Available
8 yr old F Purebred Rough Tri
Trilby is a sweet and affectionate Collie , deserving of a good home that will cherish her. She does have some medical issues, and is on a low dose of thryoid, and is seeing a specialist for treatment for her nose. At this point the vet feels this is Discoid Lupus. She is responding well to her medications, and we hope to see even more improvement with her nose. She will need to be an indoor Collie, so there is no further damage to her delicate nose. She does ok with some dogs, but is a bit of an alpha girl. She is a large Collie, and very full coated. She will be available for adoption once she is stable on her treatment, and we see more improvement.
